MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

"Kismat has been my family away from home for the past three years. I know, cliché right? I probably wouldn't have believed it either when I was entering CWRU as a bright-eyed freshman just wanting to get involved and keep dancing. I'm happy to say Kismat proved me wrong and gave me more than I could ever ask for. It's where I got the chance to grow as a leader, but also make mistakes in a space where people accepted my flaws. Kismat wasn't just 2 hour practices 3 times a week, but late night study sessions, morning coffee runs, workout gym sessions, family dinners, Snapchat snipes, and the list goes on. I've only covered the fall semester. Spring comes and we are on a grind: dancing, studying, partying, and traveling around the nation to compete and showcase our talent that goes beyond the books. We push each other to perform better on stage and off, be better people and students in our communities, and never turn on our backs on each other. We are a bunch of goofballs who can't get enough of each other, and we look forward to expanding our quirky family."

OUR FOUNDERS

Case Kismat was founded in the summer of 2012 by three students who wanted to express their passion for dance in an all encompassing style: fusion. Shriya Kannan (CWRU '15), Akash Menon (CWRU '15), and  Shivani Parikh (CWRU '15) decided to form this team as an outlet for creative passions and the desire to perform. The blending of various dance styles is a way to bring together different cultures, and to unite students who are passionate about dance and want to share their passions with others.

Fusion is an all encompassing dance style. Of the many dance styles in this world, each has it's own distinct songs and movements. Fusion aims to incorporates elements from these styles and blend them seamlessly to create something new, something different.
